Drop size and gravity

Effect of gravity on drops of increasing volume

Drops of 1 µl, 10 µl, 100 µl, and 1 ml made of water colored with methylene blue. The substrate is a glass slide pre-coated with a hydrophobizing product (RainX). The size of the second drop is about 1 mm. The drop on the right is deformed into a puddle by gravity while the one on the left has a spherical cap shape due to capillary forces.
